Personal Histories Unit

, United Kingdom

The Personal-Histories Project is an on-going, educational, oral-history, team research initiative spearheaded by Pamela Jane Smith in which senior scientists are invited to share their memories, life stories and past experiences. Through their personal recollections, we better understand the development of twentieth-century science.

Featured in the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 films are Colin Renfrew, Mike Schiffer, Meg Conkey, Henrietta Moore, Richard Bradley, Chris Stringer, Meave Leakey, David Attenborough and Jane Goodall. Free films are produced by a volunteer film crew, led by long-term, early-career volunteer Emily Walker now based at UCLA. Personal Histories films are available world wide as teaching aids.

Imagine the opportunity to witness and engage in a multi-media artistic collaboration. The performance of dancers pulls you from room to room. A variety of live musicians play in complex harmony around you. You are both audience and participant. You choose the pace. You may linger or hurry but the experience created will be continuous. And it will be your own. How does it feel to create among artists? You will find out when the location comes alive and the journey is yours to create. Video art, installations, dance, music and more. Envision the opportunity. Visualize the possibilities. Attend one day or both. The ride could never be the same.
